THE CORE
BLADE is the oldest guitarist, once at the forefront of the rock world.
Now he keeps his distance from the main stage and has sought ways to “sharpen sound” through Japanese culture, spirituality, swordsmanship and karate.
For him, the sword and martial arts are a philosophy for cutting away excess movement, measuring distance, and giving meaning to a single strike.
In MARSHIVERN, he leaves behind his attachment to completion and chooses a second beginning: playing with others while still unfinished.
MARSHIVERNとの接点WITH MARSHIVERN
BLADE did not see the sound HAMMER and RAVEN had started as a chance to return to past fame. He took it instead as a place he could enter from the beginning, once more as simply a guitarist. His joining is not a comeback; it is the restart of someone who has given up completion.
Turns the impulse RAVEN throws out into a contour as clear as a blade's point.
Rather than overwhelming with more notes, he knows where to leave them out.
With ECHO's tenor saxophone he builds a solo exchange between elders, silence included.
- CELESTIE
His niece. Knowing how long he was held by “completion”, she quietly watches him play with others again.
- RAVEN
A pair of heat and precision. They do not restrain each other; each carries the other's sound somewhere higher.
- SIGNAL
An intellectual counterpart, someone with whom structure and space in sound can be shared.
